Information

Corporal John Dawson was a 27 year old labourer of Tooraweenah when he enlisted on 3 Jauary 1916. He embarked from sydney on board Port Macquarie on 26 April 1916. He served in Egyptwith the Imperial Camel Corps and the ‘D’ Field Troop and Bridging Train. John was the second child of Henry and Jane Dawson of Tooraweenah. His brother Percy died at 14 years of age in 1907, his mother died in 1912, and his older brother, Henry died in Liverpool Camp from heatstroke and heart disease on 11 January 1915.
